I'm pretty sure Rob has said somewhere that Ballad of Ressurrection is about The Crow...Maybe His version of The Crow for the script he wrote? Who knows.
Most of his songs are vague and make little to no sense. I like that about him. I'm a big Marilyn Manson fan and Pink Floyd and other bands that have a lot of deep meanings and things to think about. When I want that, I listen to those bands. I like that Zombie doesnt.
However I do think that there may be an occasional philosophical moment. Off the top of my head, there is a line in the second verse of Scum Of The Earth that says "Heaven waits..with the gates..rusting in the mist, yeah". One could assume that this is an atheistic point of view referring to an idea that Heaven waits in your mind...but it doesnt really exist so you will someday find out there is nothing there. Heaven is empty and the gates are just rusting away in a mist that you can't see.
^ that is not necessarily my interpretation of the song. Just a thought off the top of my head. And I don't even feel like I worded it good enough. But whatever.
I also don't think that his music is all just fun, though. I like that there is a lot of seriousness in it.
Wednesday 13/Murderdolls are a "fun" band. The sort of guitar styles they use are heavy punk riffs and the lyrics arent vague at all. Very straight forward about horror movies mostly, and some other fun things.
I like that Rob makes his songs more vague and therefor more open to interpretation by the listener. And btw, I loved the topic starters interpretation of Ballad of Ressurrection. That is what art and music is all about. Finding a way to put yourself in it.
Let me tell you that there is NEVER one meaning to anything. The very act of writing a simple lyric down on a scrap of paper might just be a window into the subconscious thoughts in your head.
Why did you write "said lyric or phrase" down here? Is it completely what you were thinking about? Was it a creative writing style of just writing whatever comes to you? Art is about expression and expression comes from everywhere and everything that has ever effected and affected you.
