| I downloaded the album this afternoon when I first learned about it and I am damn impressed.
The album is a fun, horror-induced sleaze metal album. This is the Rob Zombie I know and love. It's vastly more aggressive than Educated Horses (which I love that album unlike most, though it is more mellow) and I love that.
The album has rich sampling and great riffs from John5. His work on this is incredible. Virgin Witch is my favorite track, it's undoubtedly the best song he's released since 1998's 1st Hellbilly Deluxe album if you ask me.
My favorites are Jesus Frankenstein, Virgin Witch, Burn and Werewolf Women of the SS.
I'll give a more proper song by song review after more listens.

| I think overall it's pretty good, though it didn't live up entirely to my expectations. That's because the songs that I heard before (What?, Werewolf Women etc) were instant favourites, but none of the songs I heard for the first time really stood out for me. Maybe some will after more listens, but so far I give the album 7,5/10. | |

| I LOVE IT. Seriously. I mean I LIKED other RZ stuff more than many other bands, but this album just has the right blend to make me LOVE it!
This album is my favorite thing that Rob has done musically, only it's too short. Parts of it remind me of Manson actually, but just certain things. If this came out in 2009, it would rival THEOL for fave album. They'd both be very close.
I heard it about 6 or 7 times in the last 3 days and I'm still not tired of it.

| It is definately different than what I was expecting. In some ways, I feel it's more of a return to White Zombie than Hellbilly Deluxe, atleast musically. This is by far the most guitar driven Zombie album since LaSexorcisto.
I must be honest. Hellbilly Deluxe is the ONLY Zombie album that i've liked after first listen. i hated LaSex, Astro-Creep, Sinister Urge, and Educated Horses under first listen. ...Okay, "HATE" is too strong of a word. I just didnt really like it. It was more of an "eh...it's not that great" type of feeling. All of those albums are now some of my FAVOURITE albums of all time. By any artist. Ever. I feel the same thing is happening here. To be honest, "What?" I thought was simply fucking amazing! But I didnt feel like it was single material. It gave me slight fear about Hellbilly 2. I mean, I have really high standards for RZ. He is my favourite artist. I thought What? would be a great addition to the album, but not single material. It's not on the same level as Dragula or Living Dead Girl. Sick Bubble Gum took awhile for me to like. I do enjoy it, but I felt like that was more of a b-side. Not to confuse this with my opinion of What?. What? was NOT a b-side to me. I knew it was a great song...just not single material. Sick Bubble Gum was b-side material to me. This further scared me when I heard of that being the first video for the album. And about the video: I LOVE the fucking video. I dont get why people dislike it. It definately doesnt look like a "Hellbilly" video. It looks like the type of video that should have appeared on Educated Horses (which I love) but I was expecting the video to be in make up and really dark and freaky. Oh well. It's still a great video.
Now on to the other songs.
My favourite track by far is Werewolf, Baby. I feel like THIS should be the single. It's catchy, it's heavy, and its cool. Jesus Frankenstien....I love the versus. Great fucking versus. The chorus could have been better. Also, this should not be single material....I heard that it was supposed to be? I feel like this song is really good....probably on the same level as Super Charger Heaven....Not single material, but close!
Mars Needs Women....I didnt get it at first. I couldnt believe it. It was so different than old RZ. I didnt like it much. Now I love it and it's one of my favourite tracks! I dig the the sense of humor: a long and epic intro that turns into such a corny and cheesy song! True b-movie Rob Zombie style. Kickass!
I love Werewolf Women of the SS. That is truely a great track. I also really like Cease to Exist, Burn, Dream Factory, and Virgin Witch.
I guess I only have 2 problems with this album:
1. Too long of intros
and
2. ....The album just feels a bit incomplete. All the songs are great. But....I am just looking for 2 or 3 ultra catchy fuckin cool songs like Superbeast, Dragula, Living Dead Girl, Dead Girl Superstar, Demon Speeding, etc...
All of the songs on Hellbilly 2 seem so experimental...which is a good thing (lets face it, Rob has been using the same style for years and years now...it was time for a change) But I was just hoping for a couple classic style songs.....like I said, only Werewolf Baby really feels like old school Zombie to me.
Does this album live up to the original album.....No. Not right now at least. I'm sure within time it will feel perfect, like all his other albums. I really feel like the "true" Hellbilly Deluxe 2 will always be The Sinister Urge. It just sort of felt like the closest thing to me. The song titles on this album feel like the first Hellbilly, and so do some of the lyrics. But the music and some of the styles really feel like something different. I guess I was hoping that this record would have sounded like it was written in the same sessions as Dragula, Meet The Creeper, Demonoid Phenomenon, etc...
This album feels really Rockin' half the time and really experimental the other half of time.
I give it an 8 out of 10 right now. Again, I'm sure this rating will change with a few more listens. The songs are growing on me quick! I can't stop listening to them, actually. Only Zombie has had that effect on me: even if I hated a song...something about it just keeps bringing me back again and again until I love it....I guess thats just Zombie Magic for you. lol.
This album would have been a perfect 10/10 if it would have just had a few more songs with grooves like Werewolf, Baby and Virgin Witch. I also wish the songs were darker and scarier. They feel really Wednesday 13 ish. in some ways. The first Hellbilly was actually scary. I remember listening to songs like Phantom Stranger and Ballad of Ressurrection and if you sitting alone in the dark late at night, your mind would begin to wander and sometimes it would actually scare you.....the only other song that has ever done that to me was the song House of 1000 Corpses. It was really creepy to me in the best possible way!
I love that every song is a real song for once! No filler musicals, etc... I love that the songs are a little longer than usual. You know, people always complain about shorter songs. When the album is only 30 mins long, people complain saying things like...I wish there were more songs or longer songs......Damn, I miss some of that short catchy stuff to tell ya the truth.
The only other thing I have to say about this album is, and this is either good or bad depeding on your personal taste, it feels like a movie soundtrack! Maybe Rob is so used to putting together soundtracks these days that he forgot how to make a straight forward album. Did anyone else notice this? The songs all have this REALLY epic quality to them...but not in a rock song way....more of a soundtrack way. There are some very technical aspects of this record, musically. Which is kind of cool if your into that. It will take some time getting use to for me.
But I must say, lookin back on what I wrote, it seems like there is a lot of negativity in my writings.....That is not what I meant. I really do love this album. It will, without a doubt, be the best album of the year in rock/metal music, lest Marilyn Manson puts something out. That would be the only competition. I truely love Hellbilly Deluxe 2. I was just explaining, in an almost Gonzo fashion, my very early feelings. The songs all kickass! The music kicks ass. Some of it sounds soooo different than old Zombie. Some of it sounds the same. Listen for yourself and make sure you buy in on Tuesday!
Thanks for another Masterpiece, Rob!

| Yeah. A few days later and a few more listens proves this to be such a great record to me. This album kind of reminds me of Black Sabbath in a weird way. Either way, this is a great addition to my Zombie collection. I can't wait to hear these songs at Mayhemfest! This is definately one of Rob's best work! | |

I loved it immediately. The fury and crazy nature of the songs make them fun and intricate. It's much more diverse as far as themes and ideas go for characters and lyrics. I love love love love Educated Horses but this album is way more fun.
